In the Vineyard
All the Birdnetting is now on and the grapes are starting to soften, change colour and ripen. Harvest is still about 3 weeks away and we are hoping for some warm weather. The Pinotage set an average crop so little bunch thinning was necessary. The grapes look perfect at this stage.
In the Winery
Vintage in the winery is due to start on the Monday 8 Feb with the Tempranillo arriving. The samples are looking great at this stage. This will be followed by the Pinot Gris(Grigio style); Verdelho and then the Chardonnay. Pinotage due to be picked at the end of February.
The 2015 Pinotage( probably the most Pinot Noirish I have made) will be bottled soon and will be released over Easter with the new 2015 Chardonnay( nice linear delicate style) Both the 2015 Petit Verdot and The Waagee are progressing nicely in oak.
On the Estate.
After having the same label design for 10 years, I have decided a change is in the air.
We are working on a few lovely ideas and the new wines will all have this classy look.
